World’s First Wooden Car Faster Than A Porsche

Students of the North Carolina State University have unveiled a wooden sports car. The designers of this car claim that it is faster than a Porsche or a Lamborghini.

Joe Harmon, head of the project has named the car “Splinter”
This two-seater “Splinter” is 15ft. long, it has a laminated wood veneer chassis and wooden wheel rims inside while Osage orange wood has been used to make its springs. It is made up of maple, plywood and MDF, has a 4.6 liter V8 petrol engine and a six-speed gearbox.

This car weighs 1,134 kilograms, 240 kilograms less than the lightweight Porsche 911 GT3. The car has a top speed of 240mph. The Splinter has a roll cage to protect the driver

The car is due to hit the road later this year. The design company, Joe Harmon Design, is yet to decide on the price of this two-seater car.

Harmon also wants to see Formula One star Lewis Hamilton driving this car in the grand prix one day.
