Worst Dressed Celebs

I have in the past covered the best dressed celeb couples as named by Forbes, but I thought that a Worst Dressed list is so much more fun. The definitive Worst Dressed list is compiled yearly by the famous (or rather infamous) Mr. Blackwell and this is as eagerly awaited as his scathing but creatively funny comments on the celebs that unwittingly make the list every year.

Mr. Blackwell obviously could not decide who was the worst dressed from among a rather overblown looking Britney Spears and an inexplicably fluffy looking Paris Hilton, so he awarded them joint first place on his list of infamy with the words, “They’re two peas in an overexposed pod” Indeed!
Camilla Parker-Bowles hats do not inspire Mr. Blackwell in the least; he has only these scathing words for her: “In feathered hats that were once the rage, she resembles a petrified parakeet from the Jurassic age. A royal wreck.” Watch out Milady!
Next on the list is poor Lindsay Lohan, who is described pithily as “Adorable to deplorable”. Christina Aguilera who is next on the list also found no favor, being described as someone who “puts good taste through the wardrobe wringer. All crass and no class.” Ouch!
Next on the list, Mariah Carey, is a bit of a no brainer; she has long been a cleavage-baring fashion victim! American idol did not lead us to believe that Paula Abdul (next on the list) was worthy of a mention here, but according to Mr. Blackwell, “Let’s face it: Perky Paula’s a paint-by-numbers fashion foul — she dresses with all the restraint of a revved-up Simon Cowell!” Oh dear!
A real surprise on the list was Sharon Stone I thought, but Mr. Blackwell describes her as “an over-the-hill Cruella DeVille”. Boy, I know I would not like to cross that Mr. Blackwell’s path! Bringing up the rear are Tori Spelling, Sandra Oh and rather undeservedly I thought, the legendary Meryl Steep!
Wait there’s more: if you want to check out the very worst dresses, then here is another Worst Dressed of 2007 list which included the likes of Beyonce Knowles, and rather more predictably Amy Winehouse. Ah well you know what they say, there’s no accounting for taste!

Spiritual clothing is making headway around the world these days. Personally I didn’t see what the big deal was about; it seems like just fashion hype. With the many things being either ‘in’ or ‘out’ this was another thing which being ‘in’ now would soon be ‘out’ before you get to the store. I did however give it some thought and found that there was some sense to it. The hype and commercialisation of it all is a turn off to many, spirituality is not about commercialisation, but isn’t it?
Spiritual leaders have been consistently trying to bring spirituality to the masses in numerous ways. Why not in clothing as well? Spirituality is about one’s state of mind, their state of being and their lifestyles. Now the mind being the most important part of it all, if by wearing spiritual clothing it makes you in a sense calmer, makes you feel more in touch with yourself, then why not? Everyone needs different things motivating them to get in touch with their inner self. For the fashion conscious if it means wearing so called spiritual clothing then good!
Once the state of mind becomes calmer, or for the time someone is wearing such clothes one becomes more receptive to the world around them. By not wearing anything high fashion their lifestyles are more unfussy wearing these simple clothing. In the fashion world there is this saying “You wear what you are.” So by wearing spiritual clothing if it makes someone feel spiritual so be it! That is a step towards spirituality.
It is an effort to condition the mind. The saints and spiritual leaders all wore different clothing. For example, you wear a cop’s uniform, you feel authoritative suddenly don’t you? Likewise if wearing spiritual clothing makes you feel spiritual it’s great. If you like the experience of being calmer, meditative then you will naturally move towards a more spiritual life.
